Knockhill times

Postby Gman7781 on Sat Jul 03, 2010 6:09 pm

Hey guys gonna be doing a few laps round knockhill for the first time ever was wondering what good times where? My boss goes there frequently in a heavily modded carrera4 and does like 58 secs or summit. Iv no delusions of going that fast, but was curious what others hav done?

I drive a standard FN2

Cheers

when i had my fn2 on track n standard trim(my first time on track with it) I was doing 1.13's and in my FD2 i am now doing 1.05's but its not about the times mate just go out and have fun! if you start trying to beat the clock you'll end up in the kitty litter!

yep.

Good time for an EP3 would be about 1:05, an FN2 will be several seconds slower. DC2's are slightly slower than EP3's round Knockhill, better track car but the better EP3 straight line speed means it's a bit quicker round KH.

Donald did a 57 sec lap in his Evo, which is pretty impressive. I had a series of laps filmed in heavy traffic showing up low 1:02.

Worth remembering tracktimes will vary greatly from day to day, weather, rubber on track, humidity, temp all add up to a pretty significant effect on times.
Also where KH position the cones and markers for corners can really slow you down, I reckon there is a least half a second of time to be found or lost depending how much scenery KH let you take through the chicane.

So when you going on track?

you been spying on me! had a wee backwards trip into said stuff on tues night   i blame the lack of brakes  ....not sure about the straight line advantage of an ep3 though Kenny, dont think that comes into until quite well into 3 figures and that was me seeing between 115-120 on start/finish straight(not bad for a wee 1.8)...still massive fun and so addictive 8)

I'm not overly worried by times, I'm just hoping to have fun and maybe become a better driver. Just wondering how bad my times will be that's all :-p

Unless someone has slipped a supercharger in without you noticing then your speedo is broken

I can get 109mph on a gps which is approx 118mph on the clock.

yeah,i know thats just on the clock so not gonna be particularly accurate, and also depends how good i was getting out of the hairpin(to be honest, still to find a quick way out of it!)...mike,do you mean the wee straight between the chicane at the top of the hill and the right hander just before the long back straight?...if so,then found that a pain! was pretty much in and straight back out of fourth there.really fancy being on track with a few of you boys who have been a few times to check out/follow some decent lines.have to say though, the cone postitioning by the staff last time out did help  :D
